We extend a warm welcome to those who are attending their first meeting. We deeply regret the circumstances that brought you to our Chapter.
We invite you to come and join with others who understand much of what you're feeling and the challenges that often confront us. We may not understand everything, but our losses bring solidarity and a compassionate understanding that comes only from someone who has been there. Know there will be sadness and tears as we talk about our losses, but there will also be joy and laughter as we remember special times with our children. Together, we learn that we are not alone in our grief.
We meet on the second Monday of each month. Meetings start at 7:00 PM and end around 8:45 PM. No reservations are needed. There is never a charge to attend a TCF meeting although donations are appreciated, as our chapter is entirely volunteer-run and reliant on donations for our funding.
To our New Members:
Coming to your first meeting is one of the hardest things to do. But, you have nothing to lose and much to gain. You do not have to say anything if you do not want to, but you will certainly be given the opportunity. First meetings are often emotional as we discuss our grief. Try not to judge your first meeting as to whether TCF will is right for you. It might be the second, third or fourth meeting before you will find the right person or just the right words were spoken that will help you in your grief.
To our Seasoned Members
As time passes our grief changes and what we learn along the way are survival tips that must be shared. Seasoned members are the string that ties our group together and the glue that makes it stick. Think back - What would it have been like for you if there had not been any oldies to welcome you, to share your grief, and encourage you? “Your pain will not always be this bad, it really does get softer.”
Monthly Meetings Location, Time, and Directions
The Compassionate Friends of Tallahassee meets on the second Monday of each month, from 7:00 to approximately 8:45 PM. We meet at St Stephen Lutheran Church, at 2198 N. Meridian Rd, Tallahassee, FL. We meet in donated space at church facilities but no religious creed or affiliation is involved. We meet in the Luke Room which is on the south side of the building. The parking lot is accessible from Pinewood Drive.
