The Compassionate Friends is a global nonprofit organization offering support to families after the death of a child. Founded over 50 years ago in England, TCF has expanded its reach to at least 30 countries worldwide.
In the United States, TCF was incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit in 1978. With over 500 local chapters across the country, TCF provides essential support and companionship to bereaved parents, grandparents, and siblings.
The Tallahassee chapter of The Compassionate Friends was established in 1980 and holds monthly meetings on the second Monday of each month, except for December when we hold a special Candle Lighting service.
When a child dies, at any age, the family suffers intense pain and may feel hopeless and isolated. The Compassionate Friends provides highly personal comfort, hope, and support to families experiencing the death of a son or daughter, brother or sister, or a grandchild, and helps others better assist the grieving family.Â
The vision of The Compassionate Friends is that everyone who needs us will find us and everyone who finds us will be helped.
We are parents, grandparents, and siblings who have experienced the unimaginable loss of a child, grandchild, brother, or sister. Our group offers a safe and supportive space to share your grief, listen to others, and find solace.
At our meetings, you'll discover a community of people who understand the depth of your pain. We offer support without judgment, recognizing that grief manifests differently for everyone. Whether your child or sibling died recently or years ago, you'll find compassionate companions on your journey.
We are not therapists or counselors. Our strength lies in our shared experience. By coming together, we learn from each other and discover hope amid the sorrow. The Compassionate Friends is a non-religious organization dedicated solely to supporting bereaved families. All faiths, beliefs, and perspectives are respected, providing a welcoming environment for everyone.
